Hedge Fund Titan Buys Oprah’s Penthouse

London Based Hedge Funder Brevan Howard Asset Management’s Mark Hillery  brought Oprah’s 57th street penthouse apartment.  Prior to Brenan Howard Hillerey was trader at Paul Tudor’s Tudor Investment Co.
Mark Hillery and his wife, Melissa, paid $7.9 million for the 2,530 square foot real estate. Winfrey bought the home four years ago for $7.1 million; she never actually lived there, instead handing the keys to her friend Gayle King.
The 57th Street apartment has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. On the 26th floor, it features a 768-square-foot balcony, chef’s kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows featuring views of both Central Park and the Hudson River.
“The Hillerys recognized the value that New York real estate represented compared to other world capitals, but mostly were looking for a New York home that they felt was a good representation of the excitement of the city,” Anjollie Feradov, who represented the Brevan Howard trader, said in a statement. “Oprah’s penthouse fit their needs and the sale was consummated quickly.”
Hillery joined Brevan Howard in 2009 from Tudor Investment Corp.where he was head of emerging markets.
