Jason Lee is a managing director in Goldman Sachs’s equity capital markets group, which handles initial public offerings. He is on leave following his arrest, an official at the bank said.

Details of the case remain scarce. Police officers responded on Tuesday to a report of a disturbance at the four-bedroom home Mr. Lee and his wife had rented this summer just north of the Montauk Highway.
A Goldman Sachs banker has been charged with raping a young woman in an East Hampton rental home, the authorities announced on Thursday.

“While investigating, officers learned that a 20-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted inside the residence where several people had gathered,” the East Hampton police said in the statement.

It is unclear how Mr. Lee knew the woman he is accused of assaulting. The police declined to discuss who else was present at the home.

Edward Burke Jr., a lawyer for Mr. Lee, said his client “adamantly denies the allegations levied against him.”

“We look forward to clearing his name in a court of law,” Mr. Burke said.

He described Mr. Lee as an “investment bank managing director who has never been in trouble in his life, never accused of any impropriety at all.”

Mr. Burke said Mr. Lee had been renting the house for the month of August. A listing on the Web site of the real estate broker Douglas Elliman said the house rented for $33,000 for the month, through Labor Day.
