It has been a tough few last months for madams and women who were servicing the johns. Another Madam, Luz Gutierrez, pleaded guilty in running a brothel and prostitution ring. She was charged with conspiracy, enticing individuals to cross state lines to engage in prostitution and encouraging illegal immigrants to resident unlawfully in the United States. Many women come into the country in hopes of a better life for themselves and their families. Then they are tricked by people such as Gutierrez.
Gutierrez hired illegal immigrants from as far away as Massachusetts as prostitutes and caretakers. She and her co-owner, Epifania Delarosa, had prostitutes from Georgia to travel to Alabama to work in a brothel of an unnamed associate.
These two women were among eight arrested in December in a prostitution ring bust. They were charged in leading brothels in three Atlanta area counties. The women used business cards to advertise their business. They hired housekeepers to manage the women and make sure they collected money from the johns.
Delarosa has not entered a plea and her case is still pending. Gutierrez could receive 5 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines at her sentencing hearing in July.
