100 Women in Hedge Funds annual charity is held by women hedge fund chiefs at St. James’s Palace in London.
The Duke of Cambridge is the patron of the charity, 100 Women in Hedge Funds Philanthropic Initiatives; this is his third year attending the gala, and he also delivered a short speech. But he was on his own; his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was not scheduled to accompany him.
The couple were together for public engagements on Monday and Tuesday, and had been due to visit northeastern England together on Wednesday. Instead, the former Kate Middleton went alone to Newcastle — to smashing success — while William went to Essex, east of London, to attend in person the funeral of his former childhood nanny, Olga Powell, who died last week.
Still, they met up again late Wednesday for a private party at LouLou’s, a posh club in the posh Mayfair neighborhood of London, along with her sister, soon-to-be-author Pippa Middleton, and his cousin, Princess Eugenie.
